This week’s TWE is a fun one! We’re sharing some backyard escapes that are giving us some serious inspiration for our own homes. In fact, think of this as your unofficial announcement of an upcoming backyard makeover! We’ve been planning on fixing ours up since we moved in, but last year was.. well 2020. Nothing went as planned.

But we’re about halfway done replacing the floors, the kid’s room (read week 1 here and week 2 here) and we’re pausing on the bathroom makeover (more on that later). So we’ve set an approximate date for our new project and I am SOO excited about it. One of my favorite things about this house is the backyard, it’s on the edge of a provincial park. Which gives us the best views all year long, and I love being this close to nature.

Outdoor lighting

I always knew I wanted to have outdoor lighting, specifically these solar-powered patio lights from Amazon. We have a plug but it’s really close to the patio door, and I would rather avoid running an extension cord from there.

Chris and Julia made over their backyard and I love the way it turned out. The outdoor fireplace is beautiful and it we defiantly have a lot of room for one on our large back deck.

I still love this patio design, and it was one of the original pins I shared on our current home’s mood board. It reminds me again why I want a pergola, the stone tiles, outdoor fireplace and beautiful seating.
