The $14 Product that Changed my Skincare Routine!
This article shares the $14 cleansing oil that has changed my skincare routine.
I’ve used oils in my daily skin care routine to moisturize my normal to dry skin since high school. I love the healthy glow, anti-aging benefits and the baby soft skin you get after applying a good oil.
But since becoming pregnant my skin has become very oily, causing more breakouts than I’ve ever seen in my life. So I wanted to do a little experiment. Instead of dropping all the oils I added this $11 product to my daily skin care routine, and the results have been amazing.
Adding Cleansing Oil to Your Skin Care Routine
A few weeks ago I was at Sephora, and I had a conversation with one of their beauty experts. I wanted to know her advice on the best way to cleanse your face at the end of the day. She said something that completely shocked me, that “most people will only use a makeup wipe instead of incorporating a cleansing oil or even a cleanser into their daily skin cake routine”.
I remember when makeup wipes we’re all the rage in high school. I mean the idea is awesome, 3 seconds to wipe of your make up at the end of the day. Except my experience was the wipe left my skin feeling tight, dry and un-clean. While it seemingly took my mascara, and concealer off. I doubt it did much for the water proof foundation I was wearing.
But over the years I’ve learned a lot about taking care of my skin and skincare in general. The fact that you can use any power-packed skincare product but not get any results unless your skin is properly cleaned is enough for me to investigate cleansing oils even more.
Benefits of using a Cleansing Oil
I’m so glad cleansing oils have hit mainstream beauty, it used to be sometime you made yourself or found at speciality K-Beauty stores.
So what are the benefits of using a cleansing oil?
- lifts makeup, dead skin and other pollutants from your skin.
- deep cleans clogged pores to prevent acne.
- It can also assist in removing excess sebum or oil from your skin.
- Increases your natural skin barrier when you use oils once to twice a month.
If you think about it, traditional makeup removers contain some kind of oil to remove hard to clean makeup and even mascara. So it only makes sense to include a oil cleanser in your daily skin care routine, for it’s healing properties, nutrients and other skin-boosting benefits.

How to use Cleansing Oil
Always start with the cleansing oil at the beginning of your skin care ritual. Massaging for a minute or two to get every bit of makeup or dirt from the day. Followed by a good rinse with a damp linen face cloth to wipe off left over reside.
Then I follow by either a cleanser, or once a week I will use a good exfoliant.
Every time I’ve incorporated the cleansing oil into my skin care routine, I instantly see benefits like much softer, moisturized and clean skin. But the long term benefits are what I love the most. I’ve noticed softer fine lines and wrinkles, a very healthy and (non-pregnancy) related glow. Actually since becoming pregnant I’ve seen my skin grow dull and look quite the opposite of the pregnancy glow from my first. So cleansing oil has been a welcomed addition to my daily skin care ritual.
