We Tested Out 11 Popular Skin Care Products
This article shares a roundup and brief review of our reader-polled favourite skin care products. We even tested them out to let you know what we actually thought!
Growing up my mom always preached how important a good skin care routine is. She’s an Ojibway Native American (which makes me and my sister half), and she has always had the most beautiful olive skin. There is something so beautiful about the way Native women age, and it really inspired me to write this post.
After I got pregnant my skin kind of flipped out, I had more breakouts than I’ve ever seen on my skin before. Plus I even had a pregnancy rash caused by an influx of hormones, that also made my skin super oily. When I’m not pregnant my skin type is combination to normal. It’s not overly dry and it’s not oily, so I was happy using anti aging skin care products.
A few months ago I asked the readers of our weekly newsletter to send in their favourite skin care products. I wanted to know what everyone’s “can’t live without” product is, and then I wanted to test it out for ourselves.
So in this article we are sharing the results of tests to bring you the best skin care products we’ve ever tested!
The Best Skin Care Products we Tested in 2021
Farmacy’s Honeymoon Glow
This was by far the most popular answer to our question, and I decided to find out why? After testing it out for over a month I have noticed a difference in the texture and appearance of my skin. The directions say to apply to clean skin 2-3 times a week because the product contains AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid). Which may make your skin sensitive to the sun, but the results are amazing. I actually have a lot of sun spots, and uneven skin tone, so the acids in this product have worked wonders on those problem spots. I totally see why people love it so much.
Tata Harper Regenerating Cleanser
I’ve tried a few Tata Harper products recently, and every single one I really liked. In terms of cleanser this is probably one of the best I’ve tried. It’s a BHA exfoliator that sloughs off dead skin and gives you an over all brightened appearance.
Farmacy Honey Halo
Farmacy makes some amazing skin care products and it’s no wonder that so many of you recommended them. I ended up trying out this and with in a few weeks my dry spots were completely gone (whether thats from hormones calming down a bit or the product I don’t know). But it feels great going on and in the morning my skin looks great too.
Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask
It’s been a while since I tried the resurfacing mask, and it’s another product I need to get again. I was impressed with the resurfacing mask because of how versatile it is. It’s something that can be used on a wide variety of skin types, and even as a spot treatment. Most people said they used it during a flight or getting ready for a date. Once the mask is done doing its job your skin is ultra glowy and that’s enough for me to get it again.
Farmacy’s Green Clean
I wanted to include two tpyes of oil cleansers, one being Farmacy’s Green Clean (told you everyone loves Farmacy) and the next a drug store option. The truth is, I have no idea what I did before I used oil cleansers! Whenever I run out washing my face doesn’t feel as clean when I use only a cleanser and toner. Plus it’s also a good idea to use in the winter as it’s hydrating properties ensure no more dry skin!
Bioderma Atoderm Shower Oil
I had this product sent to me a few months ago, and omg its AH-MAZING! Our entire family uses it, which works really well for eczema and also is extremely nourishing. It is a drug store product that honestly is a must in our own skin care must haves.
Farmacy’s Deep Sweep
The last Farmacy product I’m sharing, but it’s a good one I promise! I’ve been using toners as part of my routine for years now. But I love the way Deep Sweep actually cleans and exfoliates without stripping my skin, which by the way is rare.
Pixi by Petra Glow Tonic
If you are looking for a drugstore toner, I will say that Pixi’s Glow Tonic is really good! It’s affordable and contains some great ingredients. For the most part the toner deep cleans and gently exfoliates. The ingredients however aren’t as strong as Farmacy’s but you will still get your money’s worth.
Olay Regenerist Retinol 24
I loved that a lot of drug store products were included in it, including olay’s regenerist retinol 24 which is a night cream. The product contains B3 and a Retinol Complex to hydrate, firm, and brighten. I used this before I got pregnant and it was just as good as a more expensive alternative!
OleHenriksen Banana Bright Eye Cream
I’ve been using OleHenriksen’s Banana Bright Eye Cream for YEARS! It’s got vitamin C and Collagen which is amazing for dark circles. It’s brightening and firming, plus it smells so good.
SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic
This is the most expensive skin care product I’ve ever bought. It’s SkinCeuticals best seller for a reason, and I actually wrote an entire review on the line. The first time I tried it was years ago after winning a giveaway from Jillian Harris. It’s been a must have for me ever sense, and I was so happy when I saw it in our reader favourite’s. I immediately went out and bought it just to refresh my memory and see if it really was as good as I remembered.
These are the most popular answers to our reader favourite skin care products. Each one was chosen based on the number of times they were shared, and I appreciate the affordable options as well as luxury products. I hope you were able to find what you were looking for, and maybe got some ideas for new products to try out this year.
