6 books for beginner bloggers

Reading books about Blogging is one of my favorite things to do when I have the time. I love absorbing knowledge and I have such an appreciation for the written word. Today I’m going to share 7 Books for Beginner Bloggers! I wanted to put this together for those of you who are interested in becoming a blogger or an influencer.

It’s one of the most common questions I get from my readers and I always try my best to answer them. I know if I had someone who would have steered me in the right direction then maybe it wouldn’t have taken me this long to start blogging in the first place.

7 Books Every Blogger Needs

Books to read at home when you need an escape from the world.

She Means Business by Carrie Green – This was one of the first books I ever picked up about becoming an entrepreneur and starting an online business. Carrie Green is still one of my favorite people to follow on social media, and just like the inspiring stuff she shares on Instagram, she shares a lot of inspiring quotes throughout the book. One of my favorites from the book is by Betty Reese and she says, “If you think you’re too small to be effective, you’ve never been in bed with a mosquito”. It was a quick read, that shared a lot of good information in regards to figuring out a clear vision for your brand, who your audience is and how to build a community. Highly suggest this book if you’re looking for some motivation to begin, or if you’ve hit a rut and want to remember why you started in the first place.

Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert – This was probably the second book I ever bought in accordance with blogging (notice a trend here?). Again this was an inspirational book for “creative living” that was written by one of my favorite authors. Elizabeth Gilbert is the author of Eat Pray Love and The Signature of All Things. She is a brilliant writer and takes the reader on a journey to find ways to stay motivated whether you’re writing a book, blog, or any other creative endeavor with her real-life experience, whit, and just really good writing. I often pick up this book when I feel lost in my writing or if I have writer’s block. My bucket list has always had “write a book” scribbled in it and I always think if Elizabeth Gilbert never gave up, either will I.

Pro Blogger by Darren Rowse and Chris Garrett – Thanks to The Queen herself, a.k.a Lauryn Evarts from The Skinny Confidential who shared a blog post years ago about her recommended reads for bloggers. She raved about Pro Blogger and it did not disappoint! So Pro Blogger sold over 3 million books worldwide because it’s written by successful bloggers for bloggers, and covers everything (in my opinion the biggest thing) from figuring out what niche you will blog about, step by step guide on how to put together a successful blog post and like so many other essential tips. I’ve highlighted the sh*! out of mine and wrote little notes everywhere, and its become one of my most opened books to date.

Books every blogger needs to read.

Side Hustle: From Idea to Income in 27 Days! by Chris Gullibeau – This wasn’t an author I was familiar with and on one of my excursions to Chapter’s I stumbled upon this book. I immediately related it to Blogging and Influencing, but you can associate it with any business idea you want. I liked how straight forward the author was, this book really helped me decide what idea was viable for the industry I was getting into. It helped me narrow down the direction and create a plan to achieve it. I’m still working on finishing it, mostly because I read halfway and got so excited to put my plan into action and didn’t come back to finish it yet. I found out this author also has a Podcast called “Side Hustle School” and I’ve already downloaded all the episodes.

The Million Dollar Blog by Natasha Courtenay-Smith – This is the latest book I bought, and I just started reading it. I’ve highlighted a so much and scribbled little notes on every page so far. I always like books that include interviews from bloggers and answering questions about business and blogging. It gives you an insight into what to expect and for me, it gave me the courage to continue writing and sharing my life. There are many things bloggers don’t talk about and this book has been very honest about what to expect. I’ll try and come back to update more on this book once I finish, but I would suggest buying this one as well since it has a lot of information to support you in your blogging journey.

Blog Inc by Joy Cho – I’m not sure if you remember reading the blog “Oh Joy“, or seeing the products and design collaborations Joy has been apart of. She is an O.G blogger who has extensive knowledge of web design, creating blog posts that get seen and what the lifestyle of a professional blogger looks like from Joy’s personal experiences and from other successful bloggers. This is probably the best part, in my opinion, is having a bunch of bloggers put in their honest opinions and advice in regards to blogging. My other favorite parts are the ones that I keep going back to are “Overcoming Blogger’s Block”, “Developing a voice” and “Going Full-Time with Blogging”. Trust me on this, if you’re serious about blogging then this is a book that you NEED to read. I purchased it on my kindle, but I would suggest buying the actual book so you can highlight, take notes, and save pages.

I saved the best for last. I seriously love Aimee Song’s book called Capture Your Style: Transform Your Instagram. It’s a book I am constantly referring back to and I credit to part of my success on Instagram. I think she is very talented and get’s how people view Instagram content. If you’re going to get any of these books I highly suggest the one I liked below.
