How to start using anti-aging products on a budget

anti-aging products from the drugstore

I have been blogging for 2 years and a professional makeup artist for over 10. One of the questions I always get asked from readers and clients is “what products should I be using for Anti-aging?”. For the most part, everyone wants simple instructions and inexpensive products.

I talked about my favorite new facial massage tool before and even a tip to get travel products for free, that would work for your anti-aging skin care products as well!

Drugstore Products

I’ve been searching for the best drugstore products for years because I was very picky and wanted to provide you with the best quality. There were a few stipulations when it came to recommending a product, like quality ingredients, trusted brands, and definite results. I am sharing the anti-aging products in order of the way you should be applying them.

L’Oreal Paris Anti Aging Serum Pure Vitamin C

There are so many reasons why you should be using a vitamin C serum if you’re over the age of 25. One of them is because Vitamin C is a potent preventative that protects your skin from environmental stress that leads to signs of aging. This product is a very potent product, that goes on smooth and matte.

How to use

You should be using the Vitamin C serum every morning and night after cleansing your face, and if you experience a slight burning sensation it’s completely normal.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Eye Cream with Hyaluronic Acid

This eye cream may even be better than the higher end eye creams I’ve tried. The reason being is it contains Hyaluronic acid which acts as a sponge for cells as it absorbs more than 1,000 times its weight in water. Not only does it instantly hydrate your under-eye area but its also non-comedogenic which means it won’t clog pores.

How to use

Just in the morning and night on cleansed skin by dotting around your eye area carefully. Also, you should use the eye cream right after your vitamin C serum for the best results.

Nivea Q10 Power Anti-Wrinkle Night Moisturizer

I choose to include a heavy moisturizer for people who either have dry skin or get dry skin in the winter. I wanted to find something that felt nice, was fragrance-free and provided immediate relief at night time. Nivea Q10 is enriched with licorice root that contains Q10 which helps your body produce collagen and elastin and is a strong anti-aging product.

How to use

Apply it last, after the vitamin C serum and Hyaluronic serum. It’s going to be used to seal in your skin’s moisture at night time.

Masks

I wanted to include two drug store sheet masks because I see them everywhere and personally love using them. It’s also hard to find good ones that actually feel like they do something, the majority of the ones I’ve tried from drugstores don’t work that well.

Neutrogena Deep Clean Sheet Mask

Every week or so I like to do a deep cleansing face mask, something that gets all the makeup oils from my face. I really liked how the product turned from a liquid to a mask and I didn’t need to rinse it off after. The deep clean mask helps unclog pores, reduces shine to reveal clean soft skin and peels away dirt and makeup.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Sheet Mask

Another sheet mask I’ve been loving lately because my skin has been really dry is the hydro-boost. It’s made with 100% hydrogel material and contains hyaluronic acid and is also clinically tested and recommended by dermatologists.

I use both sheet masks every other week after I cleanse my face and before I use any serums, gels or moisturizers.

  1. I LOVE the Q10 cream. I have been using it for a while. Other than that I have been mostly using Korean products for a few years now, and I really like it. I haven’t gotten into the sheet masks yet, I hear a lot of great things about it, probably should try it at this point:) I didn’t know Neutrogena was making them. Thank you for sharing this and for reminding me to take a little bit more care with my skin.

  2. Hey , Steph!
Love it that you recommended affordable and effective ones! Thanks for such a useful read !

    1. Thank you!! I am really trying to work on finding the best products that are affordable. Who wants to spend upwards of $50 or $100 on skincare if you can get the same thing for under $30. Thanks for stopping by it means the world!

  3. These are great suggestions – it’s so hard to find good skincare on a budget! I tend to make a lot of my own products to make it cheaper and then I can spend a little bit more on something I really like (I’m obsessed with aloe vera products so I like to save for 99% products from The Canaries which do wonders for my skin).

    1. Thank you!! you are so right it can be hard to find quality skincare on a budget. It took me years to find something I was comfortable with sharing. Also you are right! I like that and I need to try some of the aloe vera products from the Canaries!!
