A scary situation made us value home security even more, and our new smart lock is exactly what we needed!

We used to live in a condo downtown Toronto, and one of the things I always worried about was someone walking into the wrong apartment, or having someone break in.

One day after watching a baseball game, Tone and I were in the elevator heading to our floor. When the door opened and for a split second we thought something really bad was about to happen. There we’re two guys in skii masks, holding something big and black in their hands.

Your mind automatically goes to the worst case possible.

Did they just rob somewhere? someone? we’re we next?

Thankfully, they saw our reaction and assured us they were just shooting a music video in the building. I still have no idea if that was true or not, but after that I started feeling really unsafe in our own “home”.

Then when we found out we were pregnant, we knew moving out of the city to the small town we both grew up in was the right idea. We felt safer there.

But becoming a parent changes things.

Instead we felt we needed to do more to protect our family, and most importantly to give us a peace of mind.

Which is why we installed a new smart lock on each of our doors. We now have a peace of mind when we’re away at the cottage, or shopping. It’s ability to automate, regulate and monitor who enters our home at all times that we love so much. There’s comfort in knowing our home is “secure” at all times.

We literally downloaded the Yale app on our phones, and within seconds we had instant control from anywhere. There is a whole lot of comfort knowing you will get notifications if someone is trying to open your door, or trying to get in without a code. But another aspect of the smart lock that I love is having the ability to let one of our employees in, a family member or whoever we need without actually being there in person.

The smart home lock has a sensor that allows you to know if the door is open or closed. If someone left it open, or if someone has accessed the door without you knowing.

Unlock Using the Keypad

I can’t tell you the amount of times one of us forgot our key! Now, it’s just one less thing I need to worry about grabbing before we leave the house.

Know Who Comes and Goes

This would be a really great product for anyone who owns an AirBnB, rental property or has employees. You can assign each person their own code to get in, change the codes and see who enters and leaves the house. Not to mention you can easily share access with others through the app.

Option for Auto Re-Lock

There’s an option available for auto re-lock. Making your life a little more easier, and you’ll never have to worry if you locked the door again.

We had one of the best experiences installing our smart lock! With a little help from my dad to make the door’s hole a bit bigger, it was a painless installation that anyone can do.

Connects to Your Other Devices

We connected ours to Google Home Assistant, which works through our Google Home Mini and our Iphones. It also can connect to other voice assistants like Amazon Alexa and Apple Homekit (Siri).
