Introducing the Kids Jungle-Themed Bedroom + Mood Board

In today’s post, we’re introducing the jungle-themed nursery and toddler bedroom + mood board! This was originally created for the One Room Challenge and has been updated for more context.

I’ve wanted to participate in the One Room Challenge for what seems like forever, but the timing was never right, until this year! Even though we have a new baby coming sometime in July, and things are about to get really busy around here. I’m still super excited to be a part of the ORC this spring.

With that said, we’re happy to announce that we’re going to be making over the kid’s bedroom!

I’m actually sharing more about our decision to have Penelope and the new baby share a room in tomorrow’s blog post. But today we’re going to talk about the mood board, the plan, and share more of the before.

The inspiration behind the Design

As we bring this creation to life I wanted to share more than just our mood board with you, I want to share the inspiration behind it. My designs were heavily influenced by several Scandinavian-style kid’s rooms. I fell in love with the rich jewel tones and large print wallpaper, specifically the photo below:

Baby’s Nursery

Since the kids will be sharing this bedroom, we decided to take advantage of the strange design of the room itself. There is a 4ft dip in the wall beside the closet that could perfectly fit the crib. I plan on finding a linen canopy in a jewel tone to hang above the bed.

Penelope’s Bed

The idea I have for Penelope’s bed is to DIY a house bed. I’ll look for some plans because I remember seeing someone convert the IKEA twin bed into the house, that way we’re not going to have to go out and buy a new bed or mattress. If I can get my hands on some beautiful printed fabric, I want to drape it over the house bed and put twinkle lights on the inside. I know she’s going to be obsessed with it!

This mock up and inspiration photos make me SOOO excited! I haven’t been able to stop thinking about starting this room makeover. I can’t wait to show you more!
