Need a Mini Vacation? This Toronto Hotel has Everything you Need!

Our team spent a night at Toronto’s Shangri La Hotel and this is why we think you should too!

Toronto's Shangri La Hotel

My girlfriends all say I have the best taste when it comes to finding amazing hotels. While I hate to brag but I’d like to think I do too. I also spend a lot of time researching every single hotel we plan on staying at.

As a mom of two young children, I rarely leave home for more than a day let alone a night, unless it’s for a work trip. This is why I expect the most from every hotel I stay at. It has to be an amazing experience for me to want to leave all the comforts of home.

Why you Need to Book a Stay at Toronto’s Shangri La Hotel

There are a few things I look for when it comes to deciding which hotel we stay at. I’ll share some of that below. But Toronto’s Shangri La hotel did not disappoint.

First, a quick tip when it comes to booking hotel rooms:

I’ll let you in on a secret, that whenever I book a stay somewhere I will call the front desk and ask if they can put us in their best hotel room (for whatever budget we’ve set of course).

Nine times out of ten I will end up with an amazing room that I probably wouldn’t have been in if I didn’t ask. That’s exactly what I did when I booked our stay in Toronto. Actually, we were upgraded from the one-bedroom suite to the deluxe one-bedroom suite for an extra $75.

Note: We did book our stay through Hotwire. Which is one of my favourite tools for staying at luxury hotels on a budget.

The Deluxe One Bedroom Suite

When you first walk into the suite you are greeted by a large window overlooking Toronto’s skyline. We stayed on the 16th floor giving us enough height to see over neighbouring buildings to watch the beautiful sunsets.

In the Deluxe One-Bedroom Suite you’ll find:

  • A living room with a pull-out couch, loveseat and a lounge chair for guests
  • Office area with a desk
  • Flat screen television in the living room,
  • Bar with mini-bar, mini-fridge and nespresso coffee machine
  • 3-piece bathroom covered in marble with an entrance from the living room
  • A separate bedroom with another telivision
  • A Walk in closet with a safe, robes and slippers.
  • 4-piece on suite with a jacuzzi and marble covered shower

Shangri La Toronto Hotel Amenities

The amenities in the building we’re spectacular.

There is a full gym that contains everything you need and more. From cardio machines to heavyweights and even a squat rack (which I know is hard to find at hotels). So you won’t have to worry about missing a workout.

The Shangri La also has a beautiful swimming pool, perfect for families.

The past year they made changes in order to keep the hotel guests safe. You will have to schedule a time to use the pool, sauna and hot tub. It’s in one place, but again the hotel is doing its best to follow protocols.

Where to eat

Oh, I love Toronto’s food scene. It’s known for its large variety of cuisines and literally, everything you want can be ordered through skip the dishes if you want to stay in. Or if you want to have dinner, one of my favourite places to eat is actually really close to the hotel.

Volos – For a great dining experience. Expect signature seafood and Greek cuisine.

Ruths Steakhouse – A very iconic restaurant, that is well known for it’s Steak and New Orlean’s inspired sides.

The Chase – The city’s most cherished spots, and I highly suggest trying the Beef Tartar or Gnocchi dumplings.

The Service

Expect top notch service, from the valet to the reception. It was all fabulous and worthy of 5 stars. The rooms were all extremely clean and so were the ammentieis. I couldn’t have been happier with the entire experience.

Shangri La Hotel Spa

It’s hard to say what my favourite part of the hotel was, but as a design bloger, I loved James Cheng’s design mix of chineese culture and modern architecture. The marble covered bathrooms, hand blown glass orbs, and Asian credenzas sure make Toronto’s Shangri La a hotel an noteworthy experience.
