The Weekly Edit, 13.11.22
Welcome to another episode of The Weekly Edit. A weekly series where we chat candidly, and about our editor-in-chief’s personal life. This week we’ve got thoughts about turning thirty-two, the Toronto Raptors and changes to Cottage Living and Style.
What are you up to this weekend? The kids and I decided to come to the cabin since Tony left for the hunt camp for a couple of weeks. And after a busy week of birthday dinners (celebrated my thirty-second birthday), and even a VIP experience with the Toronto Raptors, I made it to the cabin just in time to celebrate my grandmother’s eighty-first birthday.
We also pulled out the Edgewater, winterized it, and took down the rest of the dock. Just in time because the next day we woke up to a winter wonderland.
Tuesday night, my girlfriends took me out for dinner and wine. It was wonderful spending time with them, because we all know this time of the year is busy!
Is it weird that I’m excited to be thirty-two? I’ve always struggled with my birthday, part of me has always wanted to hide away and stay in my twenties forever. But after having kids, that changed and every year just got more fulfilling. So if this past year is any indication of whats to come, I think it’s going to be an amazing year filled with all the things that matter the most.
On Wednesday I was invited as an influential member of the community to a VIP experience of the first Indigenous Heritage Night hosted by the Toronto Raptors. I asked my cousin Cassy to be my plus one, and we had the best evening.
On another note, you may have noticed a few changes here on Cottage Living and Style. After months of meetings and diving into our analytics, we decided to take a more lifestyle approach to cottage living. We know most of our readers enjoy reading about personal stories, beauty, and even motherhood. While we’re not ditching the design and renovation content, because we still really enjoy sharing tips and tricks. However, we do think it would be fun to document our cabin and cottage projects on another medium, prehaps video.
But in the mean time you can expect to find more stories on family, food and wellness. It’s our goal to write content for the mother, college student or first time homeowner who lives in cottage country. The person who wants to make the most of their homes, while creating a beautiful life without sacrificing style or taste.
That being said, I would really love to know what your thoughts are, and if there’s something you’d like to see more or less of.
In the meantime, our annual gift guides are launching Monday and I couldn’t be more excited to share our favorite small shops with you. So stay tuned and have a wonderful evening!
